Screely is built with a privacy-first philosophy. Whether you're using the web app at screely.app or the Chrome extension, your data never leaves your device. We believe screenshot and image editing tools should work entirely offline, and that's exactly how Screely is designed.

Analytics Data (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our website. This includes:

  • Pages visited and time spent
  • General geographic region (country/city level)
  • Device type, browser, and operating system
  • Referral source (how you found us)

This data is anonymized and aggregated. We do not collect personally identifiable information through analytics.

Screenshots are captured locally using browser APIs. No data is transmitted.

All editing (annotations, mockups, blur, crop) happens in-browser using Canvas and WebGL.

Images are saved to your device via browser download. Nothing is uploaded to any server.

🧩 Chrome Extension Permissions

The Screely Chrome extension requests the following permissions, each for a specific purpose:

activeTab Capture the visible tab when you click the capture button
scripting Inject selection overlay and full-page scroll capture scripts
storage Save your screenshots and preferences locally in the browser
offscreen Process image downloads without requiring a visible tab
downloads Save images and ZIP files to your device

None of these permissions are used to collect, transmit, or share your data.

🍪 Cookies

Screely does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. Google Analytics may set functional cookies to measure site usage. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

👶 Children's Privacy

Screely does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. Since we don't collect personal data from any users, no special provisions are necessary.
